Summary

Welcome to my résumé website! I have made this website available so that people can find, contact, and learn more about me if they wish to. It is also convenient to have a place to point interested people to.

I am İbrahim Akalın, an electrical and electronics engineer by formal education; IT auditor, cybersecurity specialist, and software engineer by profession. Through my school and working years, I believe I developed a strong skillset on how to learn which brought me to the point that I became acquainted with and even knowledgeable on various subjects.

I adore learning and working on things that interest me. This has been a huge advantage for my main interests as it allowed me to learn many things in a relatively short time with a continuous focus. On the downside, this becomes a disadvantage for things that are not so appealing to me. These quickly become challenges for me and I usually have to fight hard to stay on track. It is a double-edged sword.

What interests me these days? There are some stable ones and some new emergences. Since my college years, I have been into cybersecurity and the area still fascinates me. I am currently employed full-time, working as an IT Auditor, a profession that has a big intersection with cybersecurity. Apart from that, I learned and started enjoying programming when I was a child. I worked as a software engineer in the past and practiced systems programming. I moved on from but not abandoned software engineering, I still write code regularly, mostly for personal projects.

Do I have any other serious interests besides IT? I do. In recent years I grew an organic interest in economics/finance and fintech business. I always reserve some slots for these areas in my readings. I do not know where they will take me but so far I am happy with these fields of interests.
